Ask Louie is a service in which volunteers offer advice about where to locate genealogical records for St. Louis City or St. Louis County. As an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization, StLGS relies on volunteers to provide this service.
Guidelines for Using Ask Louie
- Only one question will be answered at a time.
- Volunteers will not do research to answer questions.
- If you need extensive research, you will be referred to the list of researchers for hire on this website.
- There is no charge for this service, but donations are appreciated.
- Questions will be added to a queue and answered in the order received.
What to Include in Your Request
Each Ask Louie request needs to include the following information:
- Your full name
- Your email address and/or mailing address
- A specific question about St. Louis research. If known, please include:
- The name of the person or couple, if married
- A date with day, month and year. Approximate dates may yield fewer results.
- The location where the event took place, such as St. Boniface Church, Bellefontaine Cemetery or Florissant
- The specific type of record requested, such as a cemetery or church record
- The specific resources you have already researched
Responses will be sent electronically via email.
